Darin worked as a fine-art photographer in Akron, Ohio for about seven years until 1990. He exhibited in Ohio (Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, and Oberlin as well as a solo exhibition at the Canton Art Institute) and in New York (One juried show and one group show--"Five Photographers"-- at the Adams Memorial Gallery).

In 1990 Darin gave up photography, although he found it highly rewarding. After obtaining a B.S. at Akron University, he was accepted at Harvard University and completed his graduate degree there in 1996.

Though Darin had not made a serious photograph in six years he suddenly started to "see" photographs again. Eventually, using nothing but an worn Crown Graphic and a Polaroid back, Darin started to make photographs.

The results of his rebirth into photography can be seen here, as well as in his own gallery, 52 Photographs.
